Pre-Alpha v.0.2


Hi Everyone,

Since the initial launch I took a few days off just to recharge and recalibrate. Got back at it a couple days ago and we now have a mining system fully in place in the quarry field to the left of the farm tiles. Rocks will now randomly generate there with varying rarity. Each rock takes 3 hits to break which will be shown in a progress bar that appears beneath the rock when you hit it. You must use a pickaxe to break rocks. There are currently 6 types of rocks in the game:

  • Plain Rock
  • Coal
  • Copper
  • Iron
  • Gold
  • Platinum

More will be added in later as I develop the crafting system and various new maps but the above should serve as a solid amount to flesh out the other systems. Currently because there is no crafting system mining these rocks will only be used for your final score calculations.

While I was making the mining system I did it differently than I initially developed the crop system and I realized the way I did the mining was the more correct way (both work just fine but with how I developed the mining system I have a LOT more control over the object itself including the visual and audio effects even though I don't do a ton with this yet). I will be scheduling in a code refactor for the crop system to be built in this way somewhere down the road. Doing so will enable me to do some more visual effects with the crops themselves (better wind sway, outline when you hover a particular crop, have them be bigger than a single tile, etc.).

I also went in and added in a bunch of new sound tracks to the game. We are now up to 11 songs in total for the game, 1 for the main menu and 10 to chill and listen to in the background while you play. Let me know your thoughts on them!

Next up I will be working on the bug catching system followed closely by the fishing system (the fishing system will utilize the bug catching system for baits).
